The Problem
Bringing Internet functionality without the hassle to the academic community was the charge of MindUniversity.com. This professional development company hired Digital Structures to build its signature application, a receptacle for teachers to create, manage, and publish content live on the Internet.

Boiling off the extras and frills of a full-scale web development tool and tailoring to the needs of teachers was the project description. It was to be an easy-to-use web application for teachers to author and students to visit assignments, quizzes, homework, etc.

Requirements
  • Create a virtual file cabinet in which authors can create, edit, delete, and publish documents and file attachments.
  • Establish a visitor mode from which visitors can view and search published content.
  • Build an indexed, searchable library of users' documents
  • Require registration and a logon/password from authors and allow them to keep items private or share them publicly; allow anonymous visitors access to public items.
  • Enable users to share documents by easily copying them from one user to another.

The Solution
Using Acitve Server Pages (ASP), the simple design of this application provides teachers with the power to create a web presence easily and quickly. The straightforward interface is easy to navigate and creates an immediate backbone for web-based education.

Teachers create and edit content from admin mode, and students have access to what teachers have published. An elaborate document search tool that utilizes Microsoft Index Server makes quick work of querying content.

Our client's users demonstrate their delight with the tool with thousands of hits per day.
